Pregnancy Test
So you peed on the stick and got two lines! Eek, now what? The next step would be to confirm the pregnancy at Grace with a blood test and once over checkup. We will get in touch with the confirmed results by the end of the day! So exciting!

antenatal appointments
Initial Appointment
This is a thorough, usually first appointment. We dive right in and love getting to know you first. Next we will go through all things Grace; our ethos and what we stand for. We then do a thorough history taking, blood taking if necessary and assess you and baby. We also do a scan if you would like to see your babs! Lastly we give you a tour around our beautiful facility which we are so proud of! Its normally 1h15 appointment so feel free to bring a snack (babs might need it).
Follow Up Antenatal Appointment

We book appointments with you monthly to get to know you (and your partner) well and pick up on any abnormalities should they arise. The choice is yours whether to have scans or not. This is normally a 30-40 min appointment.
Birth Plan
Appointment
Come prepared for another longer appointment! This is one of our favourite appointments around 36 weeks where we go into a lot of detail about D-Day logistics and of course, most importantly, your birth plan. Any practitioner who doesn't take your birth wishes seriously should be a BIG RED FLAG! What you want for the day is essential and will affect you for the rest of your life! (not joking). As a woman, your delivery day will be one that you will never forget... ask any woman whos had a baby before:).

Postnatal Appointment
So we have been through the antenatal period and birth together, highs and lows no doubt. We love to see how you are adjusting to your new role as mommy. We assess you and baby; check on breastfeeding, sleeping schedules, recovery, nutrition, mental health, exercise, contraception etc. Come with your questions! There's normally a lot, we love it and can't wait to see you and baby again!
6 Week Postnatal Appointment
including Papsmear
This is the last official appointment at Grace and marks the end of our journey together. 6 weeks is the end of the confinement period and is usually when the mist starts to rise for moms, they really start getting into their own motherhood groove. We will do a papsmear and last once over with you and your precious poppet. We will get in touch with you with the papsmear result. Thank you in advance for the precious journey together. We hold each one of you in our hearts...
Lactation
Appointment
You don't have to be a mom at Grace to book this appointment. Maybe you have had a rough start and breastfeeding has started going pear shaped. We here to help! Our midwifes have lactation training and are IBCLC qualified. The sooner you iron out those early niggles the better your chances of breastfeeding success! Normally a 45 - 60 min appointment. Look forward to see you and your babs soon!
Baby
Vaccinations
We do the BCG vaccinations for all babies. You dont need to be a mom at Grace to book this. Avoid the long clinic ques; come at your time and you will be done quick quick. We have a dedicated BCG Clinic Day once a month.

Debrief Consult
With our CS rates in South Africa being one of the highest in the world (80% in the private sector), we have had many many moms come to us and tell their sad and mostly completely unnecessary CS stories. We hope through this session to empower you for your next delivery in hospital. Advocating for your rights in the birth place has unfortunately become essential and we hope to give you the tools to stand up for your rights. VBAC is definitely achievable, don't let anyone make you believe otherwise!
General Papsmear
A few minutes that could make all the difference. We know pap smears aren't anyone's favourite outing (we wish they involved cake instead!), but they're one of the best ways to look after your cervical health. Our gentle midwives aim to make the experience as comfortable and relaxed as possible while answering any questions you may have. Quick, important, and absolutely worth it.
IUD Removal
Out with the old! Whether your little family is growing, you're ready for a change, or it's simply time for your IUD to retire, we've got you covered. Removal is usually quick, simple, and over before you know it. We'll chat through what to expect, answer all your questions, and discuss what comes next—whether that's trying for a baby or choosing another contraceptive option. You're in safe hands!
Family Planning
Big family? Small family? Not sure yet? That's perfectly okay! This relaxed consultation is all about helping you find the contraception option that best suits your lifestyle, future plans, and health. Whether you're planning after baby arrives or simply looking ahead, we'll chat through options such as the contraceptive injection, mini pill, or contraceptive implant, explaining the benefits of each so you can choose what feels right for you. We'll answer every question (there are no silly ones!) and help you make a confident, informed choice. No pressure—just good advice and plenty of support.
